Subject: Urgent - Extension of Strategic Gap?

Dear Resident,

Urgent - Planning Policy – Proposed Extension of Strategic Gap

Deadline for Comments 20 February

Rother District Council is consulting on (among other things) an extension to the Strategic Gap between Fairlight and Hastings. The Strategic Gap is a long-established feature of planning policy which prevents towns and villages merging and losing their identity. In this case the Gap serves to keep separate not just Fairlight and Hastings, but also Fairlight and Fairlight Cove. New development within a Strategic Gap is very strictly controlled.

The present proposal would extend our Gap to include already developed parts of Fairlight, in particular the south side of Battery Hill, Warren Road, The Close and Hill Road.

I cannot give advice about how this might affect any individual householder, but it is right you should be aware of the proposal and have a chance to comment.

The time limit for replies is very tight. All comments must be received by Rother District Council no later than 17:00 on Monday 20 February 2017. Any submissions received after this deadline cannot be considered
