Knowle Wood, up until about two years ago people wandered freely through the whole of it, even though the larger portion to the North was in private hands.
You may recollect that we (Parish Council) and East Sussex County Council were trying to designate a "Public right of Way footpath" from the Parish Council's owned portion of the Wood, starting at the Woodland Way entrance, up through the privately owned part, ending in Warren Rd.
We were unsuccessful in that venture, and as a consequence the owner of the larger part fenced his part off from ours to deter people from his land. Everyone can freely walk in the Parish Council's owned part of the Wood, accessed from Woodland Way Twitten, or via Woodfield.
Apart from the established footpaths, as a result of our clearance work in our part of the Wood, we have created new ones, none are of any significant length, but allows you to wander around unhindered. Also we have planted a few saplings, and hope to plant many more later this year to replace some of the dead, and dangerously leaning Trees that were there removed during our clearance work.
The Bluebells are out at the moment.....
