The role of the Parish Council is to work to enhance the local community. Unfortunately in Fairlight this has been impossible because of the undermining, nitpicking harassment by very small number of residents who have carried out a campaign of spreading innuendos, half-truths and personal comments about members of the council and the Proper Officer. This has had a detrimental effect not only on our ability to work efficiently for the whole community but also on our physical and mental well-being.
Whilst we wished to work on several important projects for the benefit of the community, recent events have brought into focus the need for us to be able to enjoy our lives in Fairlight. This has become impossible if we remain on the Parish Council because of the current atmosphere that this small group of residents has created.
Thus we are, with sadness, resigning from the Parish Council, however we will continue to work with and for the community in other capacities as far as possible.
We would like to thank the many residents who have approached us personally to thank us for the work we have done.
We know that they have chosen not to be publicly vocal because of the harassment they have seen meted out to those who have spoken out.
We also thank all those who have helped us with projects by the totally selfless giving of their time and experience.
