Hill Surgery Action Group (HSAG) (Formerly Harold Road Surgery, Beaconsfield Road and Fairlight Road)
Dear Residents of Fairlight,
An action group named Hill Surgery Action Group (HSAG) has been formed to help resolve patient complaints and improve services following the merger of three surgeries into the newly formed Hill Surgery, which now has over 25,000 patients registered with just 4 GPs.
You must be registered with the social media platform Next Door UK https://nextdoor.co.uk/ and join the HILL SURGERY ACTION GROUP for regular updates. We are developing a website, and I will share the details once it is up and running. If you prefer to join through me, as I am Vice Chair of the group and a Fairlight resident of 42 years, feel free to email you name, address and an email contact at the address below.
I am attaching three documents for you to view, as these will bring you up to speed on why we formed the group, our intent, and the meeting notes following our first meeting with the 4 GPs and the PPG earlier this week. We will be taken far more seriously if we have a strong membership, so I encourage you to join if you feel strongly about the declining service. We cannot handle specific medical complaints, but we do need to hear about general concerns and experiences, good or bad, that you may have encountered since the merger.
Finally, if enough Fairlight/Pett residents join, I will aim to set up a meeting to explain our intent, hear some of your issues and include this in our meetings with the practice team when we next meet in March.

This means that other members of the Fairlight Residents Association would have been able to see other members’ email addresses. As this is a closed group, addresses would have not been open to the wider public
We sincerely apologise for this mistake and are looking at introducing additional controls to mitigate risk of further occurrences.

Posts on the Facebook group ‘What’s going on in Fairlight’ and emails from members of the FRA, are suggesting that the email addresses of Fairlight Residents Email scheme members may have been passed on to another party.
We categorically state we have not willingly issued, nor authorised the use of, the email addresses of any members of the Fairlight Residents Association to any third party.
The Fairlight Residents Association (FRA), as an organisation, takes all appropriate organisational and technical measures to keep your personal information safe and secure.
We respect the privacy of your information which is why, as a precautionary measure, we have reviewed and amended the security of all information held by us.

The FRA accepts that the use of the email scheme is an asset to the village. However, misuse of this facility can have a negative impact on residents and the reputation of the FRA, therefore, we are now publishing the revised guidelines for use of the scheme.
· The object of the FRA Email Scheme is to send news and matters of interest to residents in a timely manner.
· The scheme is open to any member of the Fairlight Residents Association and is free to use. Members may leave the scheme at any time by contacting fairlightresidents@gmail.com .
· Emails are confined to matters of interest to Fairlight. There will be no spam or commercial advertising.
· Anyone can send in emails to fairlightresidents@gmail.com but this is not a guarantee that they will be published. The FRA reserves the right to refuse to publish emails without explanation. If emails are suitable to send out, it is aimed that they will be sent within 24 hours.
· Fairlight Residents Association is non-political, non-religious. The email scheme will not be used for these messages.
· The FRA will not publish emails that the administrators consider to be discriminatory, bullying, offensive or abusive, in that the context is a personal attack, sexist or racist, or might be considered harassment.
· No responsibility is accepted by the FRA for errors.
· Any views expressed are solely those of the authors and not those of the Association or of the Committee unless stated.
· The sender’s name and email address must be included in the email. No emails will go out anonymously.
· The email provider, used by the FRA, only allows one bulk distribution email to be sent out by the FRA in a 24-hour period. Therefore, if multiple emails are received for distribution these will be amalgamated into one.
· Members receive a blind copy of an email.

Fundraising collection
Thurs 21st March and Mon 25th to Wed 27 March between 9.00 am and 1.30 pm, Fairlight Village Hall
We have arranged a Bags2School fundraising collection in aid of Fairlight Nursery. As a registered charity, number 1036984, we need to fundraise in order to continue to provide fun, education and learning to the youngest members of our community.
Items gratefully received: clothing, shoes, hats, bags, jewellery, soft toys, household linen, curtains and towels
Unfortunately we cannot accept duvets, blankets, pillows, cushions, school uniform, workwear that is personalised with a company logo or fabric
Our famous Fairlight Nursery Jumble Sale will return on Saturday 19th October. Please look out for posters nearer the time, as will be very pleased to collect clean and quality items of occasion wear for this sale.
In the meantime more general items that are donated to our Bags2School collection would be extremely helpful and very much appreciated.

Please note that with effect from Monday 26th February for a week a tree surgeon will be in Knowle Wood carrying out work identified by the latest tree survey.
The Parish Council ask that you be vigilant when walking through the wood as trees are being topped, felled and bushed chipped.
All wood and chipping will remain on site for nature and for the Knowle Wood volunteers to utilise.

Dear Fairlight Resident.
It is the Fairlight Parish Council and the Residents’ Association’s greatest pleasure to inform you that Fairlight’s new “You are Here” map is now in situ. The map has been placed exactly where the old one stood, on Waites Lane, close to the junction with Battery Hill. The map is currently covered with a tarpaulin but will be unveiled by the artist, Julie Marshall, on Wednesday 24th January at 12:00 noon. Please do feel free to come along and gather on the other side of the road to witness this historic moment.
Towards the end of 2023, a collaboration of Fairlight Parish Council and Fairlight Residents’ Association, decided to commission a new, updated map. This work has been assisted by the Fairlight Art Group and Fairlight History Group. The old map had stood for roughly 46 years and was originally erected to celebrate the Silver Jubilee Queen Elizabeth II. The new map intends to mark both 100 years of Fairlight Cove and the Coronation of King Charles III.
Please do come along and show your support for this project, we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

A booklet of vouchers for money off Tena Lady products has just come through the letterbox courtesy of the postman. For those who don’t need these, please could you consider dropping the leaflets into the food bank box either at the farm shop or village hall, rather than putting them in the recycling? Even better if anyone wished to purchase the items and drop them off, but the vouchers will do if need be. Rye Food Bank also supply personal hygiene products to their users, so are always grateful for contributions.
